Method
Preheat and assemble
- Preheat oven to 400°F and grease a deep 9-inch pie dish.
- Brown ground beef with onion in a skillet, then drain fat, and add garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper; cook 1 minute.
- Spread beef evenly in the pie dish and top with shredded cheddar.
Make batter and bake
- Whisk eggs, whole milk, Bisquick baking mix, and garlic powder until smooth, then pour over the beef and cheese.
- Bake 30–35 minutes at 400°F until the top is golden and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let cool 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
Pro tip: Drain the beef well so the self-crusting layer stays fluffy instead of watery. Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator up to 3 days; reheat in short bursts in the oven or microwave. Freezing: not ideal due to texture, but you can freeze for up to 2 months and reheat gently. Dietary swap: use a reduced-sodium Worcestershire and cheese to lower sodium without changing the bake.
